Joanna arched an eyebrow as she reached up and fingered the placket of Addison’s velvety smooth gray shirt. Holding it between her thumb and forefinger, she slowly drew her hand downward, her knuckle barely grazing Addison’s skin until she reached the first fastened mother of pearl button located almost halfway down the blouse. Raising her eyes to meet Addison’s, Joanna said, “You should lose your tie more often.”

“I should take you out to dinner more often,” Addison said, breathing in the scent of Joanna’s perfume. “You’re absolutely stunning.”

Addison’s compliment brought a dazzling smile to Joanna’s face, but when she saw the look in Addison’s eyes, Joanna shook her head. “We need to go.”

Again, Addison drank in the sight of Joanna as she closed the distance between them. “I know, and we will, but not until I get a kiss.”

“I have a feeling if we do that, we’ll miss dinner,” Joanna said, placing her hand lightly on Addison’s arm.

“Only one way to find out, now isn’t there?” Addison said, lowering her lips to Joanna’s.

The quiet of the moment was interrupted by a loud jingling chime, and taking a step backward, Joanna frowned.

“Shit,” Addison said as she reached into her trouser pocket for her phone. Reading the name on the display, she sighed. “I’m sorry, but I’ve been waiting for this bloody call for over an hour. Do you mind if I take it in the car?”

“Of course not,” Joanna said, hooking her arm into Addison’s. “But after that, you’re mine.”

Since their marriage, Joanna had begun to pay more attention to articles in the papers and magazines mentioning Addison and her accomplishments, so she knew a lot more about Addison Kane than she had several months earlier. However, she had never seen the business side of Addison in action.

Sitting quietly in the back of the Rolls, Joanna watched and listened in awe as Addison spoke to the person on the phone. Her conduct was that of a consummate professional, but what impressed Joanna was the woman’s knowledge. Spouting off percentages and details as if reading them from a book, it was clear Addison knew what she was talking about and how to get her point across. At times, she would gesture with her hands, and at others, she’d shake her head and look toward the heavens, all of which tickled Joanna to no end. She had just discovered another side to Addison, and while she was truly awed, she was also more than just a little proud.

The Rolls came to a stop just as Addison ended her call. “Christ, I’m sorry,” she said, pocketing the mobile. “But I promise you it was important.”
