“What do you think happened tonight? That we used our Spidey senses about trouble happening at the Hog and made a quick detour on our way to the shower? We came here to get you,” Blaine said evenly. “Don’t look so shocked. My sister’s crazy about you. If I don’t bring you, she’s going to kick my ass. Now, are you coming or what?”
“Yeah,” Tobias said, a little dumbfounded.
“Don’t think this means I won’t watch your every step.”
As they descended the stairs, Tobias said, “I’d expect nothing less.”
TOBIAS FOLLOWED THE guys off the beaten path and down a dark dirt road to a dead end. There definitely wasn’t a baby shower around there. As the guys turned their bikes around, backing them up to park in a line, like they’d done it a million times before, he wondered if he’d been played. Could Blaine be that good an actor? He didn’t think any of the other guys had it out for him, but they were blood to Blaine, and he was merely Madigan’s guy.
Fuck.
He waited for them to finish parking and turned his own bike around, parking a good distance away from the others. Just in case. He didn’t want to fight anyone, and he sure as hell didn’t want to fight men he’d come to respect. But as he took off his helmet, eyeing the seven tough bikers, he mentally puzzled out which ones he could take. Any way he cut it, he knew he’d take a beating.
A truck rumbled down the road, the headlights blinding him as he climbed off his bike. He watched as the truck turned around, and when it was facing the way it had come, the headlights flashed.
“Let’s go,” Tank called out, and the guys fell into step, heading for the truck.
“Riggs.” Maverick waved him over.
Utterly confused, and relieved, Tobias headed over. Tank stood by the tailgate as Baz and Zeke climbed in, and Blaine jogged up to the driver’s side door to speak to whoever was driving.
“Hey, man.” Gunner clapped Tobias on the back. “Glad you and Blaine aren’t at each other’s throats tonight.”
“About damn time,” Maverick said as he followed Zeke into the back of the truck.
“Madigan is going to lose her shit when she sees you,” Zander said.
“They’re all going to lose their shit when they see us.” Gunner climbed into the truck bed.
Tobias still had no idea what was going on. “What’s the deal with the truck?”
“You can hear our bikes a mile away. They’re used to Con’s truck,” Zander explained, and followed Gunner’s lead, climbing in behind him.
