- Meet Melissa
He chuckled. “They’re all single. What’s wrong with Blaine?”
“As of tonight, I already have one overprotective man in my life. I don’t think I can take another.”
Zander came out of the kitchen carrying a box of iced animal crackers. “Hey, hot stuff, is it okay if I have a few of these?”
“Dude, show some respect.” Zeke snagged the box from his hands and shoved Zander back into the kitchen as he flashed a coy grin at Carrie. “Excuse him. He left his manners at home.” He handed her the box of cookies. “You might want to lock these up.”
She waved away the box. “It’s okay. Lynnie doesn’t mind sharing. Can you stick around? I’ll put some coffee on.”
“We sure can,” Blaine said, catching a side-eye from Zeke as they followed Carrie into the kitchen, and Madigan made her way over to Tobias.
“Should I be worried about them with my sister?”
“Probably,” Madigan teased. “I’m so happy for you. How does it feel to be here?”
“Surreal. Tonight I got to tell the two most important women in my life that I love them.” Gathering her in his arms, he touched his forehead to hers and said, “And that’s all because of you. With you, I found a new family, and because of you, I’m getting my family back. You really are my angel.”
“Your wicked angel?” She wound her arms around his neck.
As he lowered his lips to hers, he said, “Yes, Blue Eyes, but you’re so much more than that.”
Epilogue
MADIGAN WRAPPED A towel around herself after her shower and tiptoed through the bedroom, taking one last look at Tobias, fast asleep on their bed with one arm arced over his head, the other lying across her pillow, the sheet bunched low on his waist. Her love for him bubbled up inside as she studied his handsome face. Gone were the tension lines that used to remain as he slept. It had been two months since he’d reunited with Carrie and almost as long since he’d moved in, and Madigan still couldn’t get enough of him. She loved getting to know the more relaxed Tobias, the one who shared more openly, laughed more often, and loved with everything he had.
She loved loving him and being loved by him, in all its shapes and forms.
