- Meet Melissa
She shrugged. “You can tell me tonight at my place. Ten o’clock. Come prepared.” She turned on her heels and strutted toward the parking lot with an extra sexy sway in her hips, and Cheddar bounded off with her. When she reached the parking lot, she loved up Cheddar, waved to Kent, who shouted, “See you around,” and turned a heart-stopping smile on Tobias. She kissed her hand and blew it in his direction. “See you tonight.”
So much for ending things.
He lifted his chin in acknowledgment, and she turned around, doing a shoulder-rocking, butt-wiggling happy dance on her way to her Barbie mobile.
Chapter Seven
MADIGAN SAT IN her Jeep in the parking lot of Skaket Beach on Friday evening, trying to speed-read the last couple of chapters of the book for her book club meeting. What had started as her and Tobias exchanging ideas via text for booty call cards the day she’d brought him lunch had quickly turned to sexting and hooking up every night this week, leaving little time to read. But she was having so much fun with her broody, and reluctant, sex god, it was totally worth it.
They hadn’t planned to see each other every night, and most nights she fought the urge to reach out just as hard as she knew he was fighting it, because it was a little scary how much she liked being with him and how drawn to him she was. But resisting, wondering who would break down first and reach out, was torturous, which made it just as exciting as the hours they had their hands and mouths on each other.
Every night after their trysts, Tobias did his best to sever their ties—Take care of yourself, Blue Eyes. Have a good life, Blue Eyes. Be good, Blue Eyes—and knowing he couldn’t resist her made her stupid, romantic heart like him even more. She knew how dangerous that was, which was why on Tuesday she’d vowed to take a two-day Sir Broodiness hiatus. She’d gone to Common Grounds coffee shop with her girlfriends and had planned on hanging out for an hour and then going home to read. But when she’d gotten home, Tobias had texted a peach emoji. Knowing he’d remembered the first booty-call card she’d mentioned and was thinking of her had made her swoon, but she’d stuck to her guns, told him she was busy, and sent a picture of a book and a flame emoji. He’d replied with Date with a sweaty book nerd? She’d texted, No with a laughing emoji. Fictional book boyfriend. He’d sent a smirking emoji and You know I’ll put him to shame and had added an eggplant and a tongue emoji. Needless to say, their texts had ignited from there, and half an hour later they were tangled up in each other, her book forgotten.
