I drugged Gabrielle and brought her here the night before she and Adam disappeared. It was actually very easy to do. When I showed up at her house it was about 11pm, she was shocked but let me in. I made sure she didn’t see me as a threat. I also made sure she didn’t see the syringe that I brought with me. Mother did have a lot of these lying around.

I managed to steal the key to the upstairs room and I locked Gabrielle in there. Mother was sleeping, Father wasn’t home. And though I hated to do this, I had to make sure Claudia was sleeping too.

After I locked Gabrielle up, I went back to Gabrielle’s house and spent the night. Adam was very surprised to see me the next morning. I told him his mother was sick and that I would be taking him to school and that I would be bringing him home. I put on Gabrielle’s coat, pulled the hood up, and we left. Even waved to the neighbor.

We drove for about twenty minutes because he started to cry uncontrollably. I finally managed to calm him down. After I dropped him off at school, I went home. No one knew I was gone. I gave Mother and Claudia enough medication the night before to make sure they slept in that morning. Later, after they were sleeping again, I picked up Adam from school, in a location that I told him to meet me at.

After Gabrielle and Adam were dead I brought that key to the upstairs room to Gabrielle’s house and placed it in one of her pockets. I never wanted Mother to have that key again. I never wanted to be locked up there again. I knew she’d never find where I put it.

It was true, what I said of Adam. If he lived, he might have ended up with my mother as his guardian. I couldn’t risk that. Mother would be free to determine her choice of child rearing. No, death was a better option. He was in a better place now. This world is vicious, so unkind. You need tough skin to make it through. I learned how to be a good poisoner. It was my only way to survive.

The yew tree, the tree of reincarnation? No, to me it’s the tree of the dead. Anyone who experiences the afterlife gets eternal punishment for their life of sin. And I hope Gabrielle is getting what she deserved.

I killed Gabrielle and Adam but Mother did kill Father, Claudia and Bethany. I told the truth about that. For some reason Mother was convinced Bethany killed Gabrielle and Adam. She didn’t suspect me. Otherwise, I’d be dead.
