“If I have to bring cheap throws to see these beauties, I must be doing something wrong,” she said, squeezing Emma’s chest. “But if party favors are your thing, I’ll pick some up.”

“You’re being frisky tonight, baby, and I’m loving it. All you need is that wonderful mouth of yours, and I’ll show you whatever you want.” Emma turned her so she could reach her lips. “What exactly is our plan tonight? I’d rather have fun with you than this, so the quicker we get to it, the better.”

“Let’s play it by ear, but all we are tonight is concerned parents. Our kids aren’t getting along, and we don’t know why,” she said as Lou stopped at the door of the club, and two of her guys came out with umbrellas.

“Have our guests arrived?” Emma asked as they made their way to the reserved table the longtime manager Josh had set up for them.

“Not yet, but it’s good to see you,” Josh said, hugging her. “What’s your pleasure?”

“Tall Irish women,” Emma said, making him laugh. “But for now, I’ll take a Guinness and so will Cain, but bring hers with a Jameson chaser.”

Josh went off to pour their drinks himself, and Emma sat on her lap as the band started playing. The place was crowded, but her guys were spread through the place, trying to not stick out. She gave Emma what she wanted and sang to her as they waited, stopping when Josh joined them after setting down their order.

“How’s business?” she asked, putting her hand on Emma’s hip.

“The crowds have been steady, and we’ve had a line all week. I wanted to let you know that the place next door is up for sale and would be a good pickup if you’re really interested in expanding. It would give us a Bourbon Street entrance.” Josh tapped his shot glass against hers and slammed back the Jameson he’d poured for both of them.

“Call Muriel and have her set up a meeting with the seller. Business is good, but it can only get better with more space.”

Emma slid off her lap and pointed discreetly to the door. “They’re here.”

“Josh, have the band take a break, and send one of the girls over in a few minutes,” she said as Emma waved the couple over.

“You got it, boss.”

Drew and Taylor Kennison appeared wary as they made their way through the crowd. It reminded her of the day she’d met Shelby Phillips on Vincent’s plane. Undercover work was a tightrope of trying to get information and wondering if the people you were trying to bring down knew what you were doing. In this case she wasn’t sure yet, and that bothered her. Information meant survival, and these people were standing in a blind spot.
