“What we all have to understand is that the Antakov empire will never completely die away,” Cain said and Finley nodded. “It’s got too many fingers into too many things, but we can slice away and kill the parts that are a threat to all of us. If you can’t accept that, then now is the time to say so.”

“I agree,” Linda said immediately, and Abigail nodded. “What do you need from me?”

Finley gave her a rundown of what had happened in their warehouse, followed by the school sighting of Nicola. Those were the only two times they could confirm Nicola was indeed alive and plotting. Linda watched the film and rhythmically opened and clenched her fists.

“What I need from you is a hint of how to find her. There has to be something in the ledgers that will lead me to her,” Cain said to Linda. “The Hell Fire Clubs are officially closed, but there’s no way Nicola and her father didn’t diversify. Did they put that in the ledgers, or were they only to record the business run by the entire family?”

“Nicola and Fredrick were responsible for those clubs as well as the lowbrow places that finally drove me to run. They would set up trailers in low-traffic areas and fill them with the girls they were trafficking.” Linda’s disgust was obvious. “Twenty-five would get you a quick session, and a hundred would buy you a couple of hours. I can’t tell you how many girls died by chewing through their wrists because they couldn’t do it anymore.”

“Jesus Christ,” Abigail said. “I think I’m going to be sick.”

“Christ had nothing to do with what your ex was capable of. The souls of all those girls in unmarked graves are on her head, and she’ll have to answer for them.”

“That’s what brought in the bulk of the money, I’m guessing. Those two businesses kept the family in power,” Cain said. “The feds, with our help, eliminated the high-end part, but the other side is still operating. That’s too mobile to keep up with even with the power and scope of the feds.”

“You’re right, but Nicola and Fredrick started something new about five years ago, and David was furious they’d gone behind his back. At least, he was pissed until they cut him in for a percentage. They opened clubs that were similar to the Hell Fire Clubs, but under five different bogus owners.”

“Did you keep their records?” Finley asked.
