- About the Author
I called the bar once I was safe at my empty, quiet home. The phone rang several times, until finally, Pete answered it in his office. He seemed less than pleased once he realized it was me. “Hey, Pete. It’s your favorite rock star.”
“Rod Stewart?”
I smirked at his answer. “Funny. No, it’s Kellan. I need to talk to Kiera real quick, can you grab her for me?”
“Kellan…? Aren’t you in the bar with her?” It was a reasonable question. Unless I was practicing or playing, I was usually at Pete’s with Kiera. “If this is some kind of practical joke, I’m not in the mood.”
“It’s not,” I assured him. “I left a while ago.” A fact I was now regretting.
Pete let out a long sigh. “Can’t you come back if you want to talk to her? I have things to do, other than run errands for you.”
I’d considered going back to the bar to tell her, but I had a feeling I wouldn’t leave again if I did that, and I really wanted to surprise Kiera. I had romantic plans for the two of us, if only life would stop trying to get in the way of them. “Pete…you know I wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t an emergency.” And it was. Kiera wouldn’t want to run the risk of walking in on what I’d just walked in on.
Pete grunted in annoyance. “All right, fine. But it better be an emergency, Kellan.”
“I swear on Griffin’s testicles, it is.”
Pete snorted, then I heard the phone being set down. Kiera’s voice was on the line a few moments later. It was music to my ears. “Hello?” God, she sounded sexy on the phone. I should call her more often.
Smiling into the receiver, I leaned against the kitchen counter. “Hi…I was hoping you could help me. I’m looking for the sexiest woman in the world. She’s around five-five, with gorgeous wavy, brown hair, sultry hazel eyes that you can get lost in for days, and a body that’s downright lethal.”
“Hmmm, no…doesn’t sound familiar.”
Containing a laugh, I asked her, “Are you sure? Because I have it on good authority that she works there at the bar. In fact, I saw her there just today, wearing one of those tight Pete’s T-shirts and these small shorts that were practically molded onto her perfect ass. God, when she bent over, all I wanted to do was—”
“Kellan! Oh my God…stop…”
I could hear the blush in her voice, and I couldn’t help but laugh. “Ah, so you have seen her.”
