- About the Author
When I got to Kiera’s, I was giddy when I slid the key into the lock—my key. This was the first time in my life that I’d ever had unrestricted access to a woman’s place. It was the only time I’d ever been invited into a girl’s home when she wasn’t there—welcomed into her sanctuary, encouraged to belong. It was a little mind-boggling to me and a touch surreal. A part of me didn’t expect the key to work, but the bolt smoothly slid free, and the heavy door easily pushed open. My grin was enormous. Until I stepped inside.
“Oh God, Griffin! Fuck! Yes!”
Once I heard that, I knew I should step back out of the apartment, relock the door, and walk away, but damn if I didn’t instinctually look up. I instantly regretted it. Anna and Kiera’s place was small, and the living room was right there in full view of the front door. And right there, in full view of me, were Anna and my bassist, going at it on the world’s ugliest orange couch.
Clothes were strewn everywhere in the living room, and the two…lovebirds were sprawled haphazardly over the sofa. Anna was a little preoccupied, but oddly enough, Griffin heard me enter. He looked up at me, then raised a hand in greeting, like I was meeting him for rehearsal, not interrupting a moment with his…whatever Anna was to him. “Hey, Kell…with you in a minute. I’m so…fucking…close…” His voice was strained, and I did not want to think about why.
“Don’t, uh…I’m…Fuck this…” Closing my eyes, I backed out of the room. Goddamn it. That image was going to stick with me for the next hundred years. I really hated walking in on Griffin screwing. And it happened far too frequently. How Matt stayed sane living with him was beyond me. Oh well, better me walking in on him than Kiera. While I could handle the erotic visual, Kiera would probably vomit. Repeatedly.
Speed-walking down the hall, I made my way back to my car. I’d have to let Kiera know to come to my place instead. There was no way Kiera and I were going to have a magical, romantic night at her place with those two around. Anna and Griffin were both insatiable, and it was impossible to gauge how long they might go at it—they could be like that for the rest of the night. It was a sight Kiera didn’t need to see. Me neither, for that matter. Damn, I really wish I’d noticed Griffin’s Vanagon in the parking lot.
