- About the Author
“I won’t be naked, I swear.” I made an X over my heart, just so she’d know I was serious. Sure, I’d been naked at home, but I could get the shot I wanted while wearing boxers. I was pretty sure I could at least. I’d try, for her sake. And Evan’s. ‘Cause she was right…he’d kill me.
Jenny studied me for a second, then she shrugged. “Sure, why not.”
My grin was huge as excitement flooded me. “Thanks, I have to pick up Kiera soon, but maybe we could do it tomorrow?” Jenny nodded, and I clapped my hands. “Awesome. Just let me know when you’re ready, and I’ll come over.” While it was fun imagining Kiera catching me with a camera in the shower, it would be a completely different scenario if she caught Jenny with a camera while I was in the shower. I was sure Kiera would be okay with my methods, though, once she saw the result…if she ever even asked. I doubted she’d care about the process once she had the photo in her hands.
Jenny agreed to my suggestion, and I thanked her again. As I was leaving, I told her, “Oh, and don’t say anything to Kiera, okay. I want it to be a surprise.”
“I’m certain it will be,” she said with a laugh.
When Jenny called the next day, telling me she was ready, I explained my concept about being wet…and then I told her how much Kiera loved me being wet. Jenny laughed in response, murmuring, “God, you two…” but I think she liked the idea. Water had an appeal all its own.
I was eager for my photoshoot when I arrived at Jenny’s place. I almost wanted to skip the surprise and show Kiera the picture when I picked her up from school…but then I remembered why I was doing this. I’m leaving. She’s going to be alone. What if…?
Before I could get swept too far away by my dark thoughts, I was distracted by Jenny’s door opening. “Hey, Kellan. You okay?”
Fixing my face, I stepped inside. “Yeah, of course.”
Jenny led me into the kitchen, where surprisingly, Rachel was standing like she was waiting for us. I knew Rachel lived here with Jenny, but it hadn’t occurred to me that she’d be here for this. Like she heard my unasked question, Jenny tilted her head at her roommate. “Rachel is going to be my assistant today.”
