Yo, yo, Edie!
How are you??? It’s getting busier here every week, with more and more parents sneaking their kids out of school ready to start the holidays. There’s more of a family feel to the place now and less drunken students who have escaped their exams.
Scott’s extended his interrailing and he’s now on some Greek island. The phone reception is patchy at best, so I haven’t spoken to him in about a week. Soph, meanwhile, is on her third bloke of the summer. He’s a bass guitarist for a rock band who were playing in the local pub. I wish she’d just hook up with someone on site as we keep getting dragged around the county to watch random bands play.
On Monday, Joel and Soph took us to meet their grandma Hetty. She cooked us a full roast dinner, which ordinarily should have been a struggle to eat in the sunshine but it was absolutely amazing. I think it’s the first time that I have eaten proper vegetables other than salad in my burger for the last month. Hetty’s worried we’re going to catch scurvy so she’s told us to come again. She was great fun and I could see so much of both Joel and Soph in her.
Then, last night, we had a fancy dress night in the disco, and all of us staff made an effort. The theme was children’s TV programmes, and, for some reason, Soph, Douglas, Joel and I were supposed to be going as the children from the Chronicles of Narnia. Only when I got into my outfit of long skirt, cardigan and shirt – all bought from a charity shop – Soph walks in dressed as She-Ra, in the smallest outfit known to man with golden headdress and everything. Then I found Douglas in red shorts and carrying a red float, à la David Hasselhoff in Baywatch. It was too late for me to change, so poor me and Joel were left in our Narnia outfits. Not our finest hour. We spent the whole night having to explain who we were and having to put up with the weird looks that followed. In the end we just gave up and hung out by ourselves in our super unsexy costumes.
Oh – I almost forgot your note-to-self challenge; don’t worry I’m not going to send you out in fancy dress. When do you ever see adults in fancy dress out in town?!! It’s to try something new in honour of the fact that Soph is dragging me along to a Salsa dancing lesson. I think she fancies the guy that’s teaching it. It can be anything as long as you’ve never done it before – ooh er missus, your husband might be in for a treat ;)
Love ya,
Edie x
