Dear Future Me!
About last night! I know that what happened will be etched on your memory forever as I don’t know how you’d ever forget it, but sometimes those memories fade over time. So I’m writing this to you as I never want you to forget a single minute of what happened.
As you’ll remember, it was our second anniversary, and the week after I started my new job and Joel took me out on Hetty. By the way, does the novelty of me actually living in Westerly ever wear off, or the fact that my new school is only a fifteen-minute drive away so that Joel and I actually get to spend every evening together? I know, it’s sickening, and Soph is doing her best to make sure it’s not every evening, as she tries to drag me out on nights when Brett’s feeling brave enough to look after Alfie and baby Poppy.
I’m getting distracted … so the boat! Joel took me on it after work, and he’d made a picnic, but not just a few sandwiches and a couple of tins of beer. A proper one – cured meats and fancy salads and champagne – and he went and anchored Hetty not far from our beach, you know the one, and then at sunset he proposed. We’re getting married! Which I’m guessing you know as I imagine that you’re celebrating a big anniversary sometime soon!!
Anyway, I must run – so much to organise! Douglas is heading down for the weekend to spend it with us, and we’re going to have a very fun, and very sober, night out with him and his new girlfriend, the very lovely Lucy, along with Brett and Soph. Then Dad and Julie are coming down on Sunday for a celebratory roast. Let’s hope that mine and Joel’s wedding is every bit as fun and romantic as theirs was last year.
Oh, I almost forgot – for your note to self – drink in your life more and live every minute.
