- ABOUT THE AUTHOR
For me there’s just so much that doesn’t add up. Like the cigarette burn on the little kiddie’s arm—Casey said she wasn’t a smoker, but if you look at those pictures of her in England, the ones with the short skirt and alcopops, you can see her holding a cigarette in some of them. So that’s a lie. And the neighbor, Carol Bubchek, said she’d seen her outside the house, smoking, a few times in the days before the murder. If she lied about that, what else did she lie about? And why’d she leave the house in the first place, on such a hot day? To try and make an alibi, by leaving the door open? But the police don’t find any other prints on the door or shoe marks in the garden. Just Casey’s, the family’s, the gardener but he had an alibi. This neighbor also says no one comes to the house during that hour, or even up the street. No cars, definitely no one on foot—people do not walk about in Los Angeles, so it would look suspicious if they did. Anyway Carol Bubchek has a security camera and there’s nobody on it, you can see for yourself online. Just Casey sort of pacing with the baby up and down the street. As if she’s waiting for something. She even looks at her watch at one point. Why? Is she working out how long she has to stay away for? She wants us to believe someone gets in, kills the entire family, including the dad, who’s a tall guy, 200 pounds or so? A stranger who’s not familiar with the house layout? Kills them all and doesn’t take anything, not even some cash that’s sitting out on the side? Gets away, covered in blood spatter probably from stabbing Abby, and no one notices a thing, in this neighborhood full of paranoid rich people? I’m sorry but none of that is remotely believable. It’s the kind of thing someone not from LA, or America, might say. Someone with no experience of the police. A young English woman, for example.
