Rachel noticed that Quinn looked perplexed when they stepped into the room. From her experience, men that had seen such a room at least once or twice before seemed to enter them with an almost resigned sense of acceptance. But when someone was hauled into an interrogation room for the first time, there was a sense of dread to them. Their posture was usually very straight, and their eyes tended to wander, as if looking for an escape route. She saw same of this in Joseph Quinn. He did not sit down behind the table in the center of the room right away. He simple stood by it, looking down to it as if he didnt trust it or the chair behind it.

Have a seat, please, Mr. Quinn.

He did as she asked, sitting slowly in the seat. He grimaced a bit when he was settled, presumably fighting off a roaring hangover.

Okay, he said. Now that Im here, will you tell me what this is about? Am I in some sort of trouble because I slept behind the bar? I mean, I couldnt get into my car because

Hold on, Mr. Quinn. Lets save that for when Agent Rivers returns.

He looked genuinely worried for the first time. Rachel wondered if some of the haze of his condition was starting to wear off now that he was a bit more awake and aware of his situation. At the same time, the confusion on his face was genuine, too. The hangover and lingering drunkenness were making it hard to get a read on him but for the time being, Rachel was starting to think he may honestly have no idea why he was here.

Jack came into the room less than a minute later. He held a Styrofoam cup of coffee in one hand and a bottled water in the other. He set them both down in front of Quinn and then reached into his pocket where he took a small packet of individually wrapped Tylenol. This is all they had in the pain reliever department, he said.

Thanks, Quinn said, somewhere between embarrassed and grateful. He took the meds first, tearing the packet open and popping the two pills into his mouth. He sipped cautiously at the water with the experience of a man that had chugged too much water after a crazy night out one too many times.

He then pulled the coffee over slowly but seemed hesitant to drink it just yet. Rachel took a seat in the chair on their side of the table. With only one chair on each side, Jack was left standing.

Okay, Mr. Quinn, Rachel said. Before Agent River came in, you were about to tell me why youd been sleeping outside of your car. Can you finish that up for me?
