He smirked at the idea as he drove by the house. Knowing it wouldnt do to just park right in front of the house, he drove a few blocks down and parked at the edge of a block where a house was currently for sale. He supposed it was inconspicuous enough. He made himself get out of the car, not wanting to allow himself a moment to change his mind. As he started walking down the street, he felt the knife pressing almost urgently against his thigh, where he had it safely planted between his hip and the waist of his pants. It both excited and terrified him to know hed be using it soon.

Well, maybe not soon. His target did not get home for another three hours or so and God only knew how long it would take them to be alone. He started to wonder if this was a mistake. Hell, he didnt even know if hed be able to get into the house at all. Hed done some research online, reading up on how to pop a window up from the outside even if it was locked. Hed need a flathead screwdriver, which he also had on him. It was a small one, tucked away in his left front pocket.

Keeping his head low, he walked down the street and was surprised at how dead and quiet the place was during the afternoon. On his trips by the house to make sure he knew the area well, hed always seen people out jogging or walking, but there was none of that right now. Still, the nerves were there, his worry of

My God, would you stop worrying about everything? Youve always been open to question everything if it didnt make sense to you, havent you? Its why a woman never settled down with you. Its why you didnt make it out of college and are now stuck with that God awful job that you hate. Youre wasting your life away because you question everything, all the time, and never settle your mind on something unless you believe you know all aspects of a thing. Youre such a rotten little disappointment, never doing anything right, never putting your all into something…

Fuck you, he muttered. Heat flushed his face at the two words because hed never dream of saying them to her face-to-face. Even the thought of it felt a bit taboo.

And somehow, with that, hed come to the house. For a paralyzing moment, his legs felt as if they would refuse to carry him any further. Not into the yard, not up onto the back porch to the kitchen window, and certainly not into the house.
