Todays mail seemed no different than the usual offerings: unsolicited mail about medical solutions and insurance, a flier for a local furniture store, the internet bill…but then something different. It was a basic, white envelope with her name handwritten in the center. There was no return address and. the weight of the envelope made it seem as if there was only a single sheet of paper inside.
Curious, she paused on her front porch and tore the envelop open. Inside was a single sheet of notebook par, folded over in thirds. Perhaps it was because shed been thinking of her son, but when she pulled the paper out and unfolded it, she began to feel nervous.
The letter inside was not from her son. Although, as she began to slightly tremble as she read the very brief message, she rather wished it was. The letter had no formal greeting and got straight to the point. It read:
Sorry to hear youre not going to make it much longer. At least you wont go alone. Did you know RACHEL is going to be just as DEAD as you very soon?
There was no real salutation to speak of. Instead, there was an addition on the bottom right corner, scrawled as if it had been nothing more than an afterthought.
Agent Rachel Gifts NO.1 FAN!!!
Florence read it two more times before she bothered stepping inside her house. She hurried to the back patio for her phone, though the idea of calling her son was now the farthest thing from her mind.
