“Milan,” she replied haughtily. Just Milan? Did she think she was Cher or Madonna or something? “I’m sure Axel has mentioned me.” Her overconfident tone rubbed me the wrong way.

“Can’t say that he has,” I lied. “I’m assuming you’re one of the women he used to fuck?”

Her slender jaw tightened. “Oh, darling. I was much more than that. We were in love.”

What the flipping fuck? Keeping my tone neutral, I harrumphed. “Hmph. I would think he would have mentioned you if that was the case.”

She tilted her head with faux sympathy. “Maybe he just didn’t want you to know how much I mean to him. That could certainly make a woman feel insecure. And the way he used to make love to me…” Her eyes closed as if she was savoring some especially delicious memories.

It was official. I hated Milan. Because she was right; my heart was clenching with an unbearable sense of insecurity. This horrible woman was fucking gorgeous. Time to pull out the trump card. “Uh-huh. But only from behind, though, right?” I asked, hoping like hell Axel had been truthful with me about his previous sexual encounters.

Milan’s eyes snapped open, and her beautiful face fell for a brief moment. Bullseye, bitch. Then the arrogant smile was back. “Yes, I always knew exactly how he liked it. He revered my ass. He would go on and on about how I had the best ass he’d ever seen.”

Paging Bitchy Blaire. Please come to the alcove beside the elevators. STAT.

“Or maybe it was because he didn’t want to look at your face.” I pointed at myself. “Because it wasn’t this face.” She was audibly gritting her teeth now.

“I helped him get over you, darling,” she said in her annoying uppity accent.

“Obviously not,” I said smugly, holding my palms up, and her jaw tightened. Target acquired: Direct hit. Then curiosity got the best of me. “How did you know who I was?”

The woman rolled her eyes. “He used to say your name sometimes when he was asleep, so I got curious. I paid attention when he put his passcode into his phone, and then I snooped in it after I nearly fucked him into a coma one night,” she said with a bitchy grin. Ouch. The thought of him fucking this beautiful woman made my stomach clench. “I found a folder entitled ‘Blaire’ where he kept pictures of you. That’s how I recognized you.”

“And why are you here?”

“I need to talk to Axel about something important.”

“Then maybe you should have called first.”

“I tried, but he has my number blocked,” she said, her eyes narrowing.

Good boy, I thought. “Then he apparently doesn’t want to talk to you,” I said, crossing my arms over my chest.
