“I assure you; you have nothing to worry about with this one,” she said, patting Axel’s arm. “All he talks about is you and Carrie.”
I looked up at Axel, who was blushing, and I had the urge to kiss his pinkening cheeks. He was just so sweet and yummy.
“Come through here,” Reagan said, waving us through the new doorway. “This is the playroom, so her toys can go here. It also connects to a bathroom that has a door to the hallway.” I entered the playroom, which was covered in glitter paint in a slightly deeper purple than the bedroom.
“So, all of this is Carrie’s?” I asked, my mouth agape.
Reagan laughed. “Yes, we call it the Carrie Suite Project.”
She led me to the bathroom, which had soft gray walls and was decorated with deep purple bath mats and towels embroidered with little yellow rubber ducks. There was even a soap dispenser shaped like a rubber ducky. “Oh, this is adorable! And she loves ducks.”
“Really?” Axel asked. “I didn’t know. I just thought they were cute.”
“Now, let’s go back into the bedroom,” she said, leading the way with brisk efficiency. “The bookshelves and furniture will be delivered tomorrow. Axel said she likes to read, so we decided to put the bookshelves here in the bedroom so she can have her books close to her. Along this wall, and the bed will go over there.” She was talking and pointing rapidly, but I could picture everything perfectly in my head.
I hugged the woman. “Reagan, you are phenomenal. You’ve thought of everything! I may need to wear sunglasses when I come in here from all the glitter, but Carrie will adore it.” I turned and wrapped my arms around Axel’s waist and said, “Thank you for doing all this. You’re incredible.”
Axel kissed my nose and asked, “You’re not going to yell at me for going overboard?”
I smirked. “I might roll my eyes a little, but no yelling because I know where your heart is.”
He hugged me to him, and Reagan, sensing we were ready for some privacy, said, “I’m going to go. Axel, I put the bedding in the closet while they were painting in here, if you want to show it to Blaire. I’ve already washed the sheets, so they will be ready to go when the bed arrives, which should be tomorrow by noon. I’ll come make sure everything is in place, and it will be ready by the time you get home from practice.”
“Thank you, Reagan. I appreciate everything you’ve done.” He glanced at her with an appreciative smile and then back to me.
