I groan, frustrated, and tug at my messy, unbrushed hair. “Did you believe Ryan when he said he wasn’t dating me?”

She tries to keep her mouth shut. “No.”

“Unfortunately, you weren’t worth the effort that it took to lock you in here. I hope you find your amenities comforting until the next moon, Clover.”

“That’s almost a month away!”

“You should have thought about that before you slept with my ex-boyfriend and tried to kill me. You’re lucky this is all I’m doing to you.”

I wordlessly untie her restraints. I tighten the wards so that she can’t leave the room.

“What’s the plan now?” Stevie asks me as we walk up the stairs.

“Find out who is stealing at Hex, then we need to track down my mother.” The thought makes my stomach hurt and Stevie and I groan in unison.

Chapter 13

“Look what the Hell hound dragged in. You need a fucking shower,” Asmo says as soon as I walk through the door. I do need a shower, but I also like the idea of smelling like Blair. Her scent is earthly with touches of lavender and femininity. Last night was beyond what I could have imagined.

I’d be a liar if I said I hadn’t had my fair share of partners. I’m an incubus and I’ve been roaming the world for a long time, but last night gave me an energy I’ve never experienced before. I’m already waiting for when I can get my next fix.

I roll my eyes and toss my helmet on the kitchen table. “Did I miss anything?”

“We have some leads,” he says, tapping his finger on the table.

“Care to share?”

“You first.”

I roll my eyes again. “Obviously, I spent the night at Blair’s.”

“Was she a good time?”

“Asmo, if you don’t shut the fuck up about her soon, I’m going to lose my shit.”

“Calm down, demon daddy,” he says, laughing. Never get drunk with assholes and spew your fantasies. They’ll only bring it back up at the worst times. “I figured we could work with Kas instead of against her. Her suggestion was to do a search and see who in Hallowsdeep has been listed as missing or went missing and recently was found.”

“Does this sudden change of heart have anything to do with you two fucking again?” I don’t mention that I think looking into missing persons is actually a pretty smart idea.
