“Of course, I have your rooms ready. Lilith?” he says her name, and she portals into the room, arms crossed over her body. “Love, can you show the girls their room?”
“Now that I’m allowed to be a part of the conversation, I would love to. Please follow me.” She gives Lucifer a shitty look, and the man can’t catch a break from the women in his life today. I watch as he sits on his bed, hands on his forehead and elbows on his knees. Never would I have imagined the devil himself having so many vulnerabilities.
I take Blair’s hand in mine. She flinches at the touch but holds my hand. I stand between her and Mara as Lilith directs Mara to the first room.
“Mara, this is your room. If you need anything, please just let me know,” she says.
“You’re really pretty and nice. Are you my… um.. stepmother?”
“Heavens no, but we can talk more later,” Lilith says, showing Mara her room as Blair and I stand in the hallway. Lucifer’s estate screams luxury and affluence. Lilith gives us a tight smile as she directs us a few doors down.
She opens the door, ushering us in. There’s a large king sized bed with lavender organza hanging from the pillars. The floor is white tile, and there’s a purple chaise in the corner, as well as a bookshelf, filled to the brim with books. There’s even a decent amount of plants in the room. Definitely not what you would expect from a bedroom in Hell.
“Thank you,” Blair says. Lilith touches her arm.
“Give him time. If anyone can confirm he cares, it’s me,” she says, giving Blair a small smile before turning on her heel and leaving the room.
Blair looks around, her fingertips sliding over different parts of the room. I go to stand behind her, my hand touching her hip and she flinches again.
“Sorry,” she says.
“Blair, what is it?”
She turns to look at me, her eyes watering, and I watch her eyes now bright blue as the tears fall. Her arms wrap around herself, and she sighs. “This has just been the worst day imaginable. First the whole thing with Ryan, then my magic is taken away by the council. I get possessed by my long-lost psycho sister. Then the worst part was watching you stab me.” I go to reach out to her, but stop as she shivers. “I know I told you to, I know that. But it doesn’t stop me from seeing it.”
“Babe, you know I would never, ever hurt you. Ever.”
