I grab the witch by her arm. “Why is he here?”
“I found him in my front yard like this. Don’t fucking touch me, demon,” she hisses, pulling her arm away.
“You’re lucky I didn’t just leave him out there. Not that I think he can bleed out. But something’s wrong with him.”
“He isn’t healing. What the fuck?” I take my knife out, making sure it isn’t the dark object and cut my arm, dripping my blood over his wounds. Which causes them to heal. Really not pleased about being able to feel this fucker for the foreseeable future. This makes little sense. “I’ll take him home.”
“Good, and you can tell the rest of your demon friends to fuck right off. Bunch of ungrateful cunts.”
“I don’t have any other demon friends,” I say, and she rolls her eyes. I grab Asmo by the waist and portal us to the bungalow, where Kas is waiting.
“What happened?” she asks, looking at Asmo’s pale face as I place him on the couch.
“He wasn’t healing. He lost a lot of blood.”
“You gave him yours?” she asks and I nod my head. She strokes his bloody, matted hair, taking a knife out of her pocket and cutting her own arm, dropping some of her own blood on his tongue. I’m not sure if it’s a possessive move or hoping she can help him heal quicker. Whatever it is, it quickly works as he blinks his eyes up at us.
“Asmo?” Kas asks.
“Baby, fuck. That bitch is insane,” he says as he sits up. “Crazy ass tried to possess me, tried to clear me of my body. I guess she doesn’t understand how corporeal bodies work. She had a dark object, some sort of scalpel, kept bleeding me, hoping my soul would go back to Hell and she could take the vessel.”
“She told you this?”
“Yeah, she’s actually really chatty. Really crazy too. Said what a shame it would be to take over my body because she would like to have more demon friends.”
“What else did she say?” I ask.
“Said that she was raised as a human, but about a year ago she kept doing bad things that felt good. Slowly it felt like her body couldn’t hold her anymore and then she was free from the confines of her mortal form. She’s been possessing people since then. None of the vessels can hold her long, ejecting her.”
“You mean, she isn’t possessing and leaving them, she’s getting pushed out?”
“Yeah, or the vessel dies, and she has to leave,” Asmo says.
“And she thinks Blair will be the perfect vessel?”
“She said she’s been blessed.”
Kas and I both furrow our eyebrows. “Blessed?”
