“Yes, and she will continue to do so until she gets fed,” Joanna said, stifling a grin. “Now, go sit down and just try to relax. Her bottle will be ready in a tick.”

Joanna picked up Robert, and cradling him in her arms, she turned around only to discover Addison was walking slower than a turtle across the room. This time there was no stopping Joanna’s grin and catching up to Addison with one step, she said, “I’m almost positive she’s not carrying nitro, Addison, so she won’t explode if jostled.”

Sniggering to herself, Joanna grabbed the bottle from the warmer and then sat down. Waiting until Addison took a seat, Joanna handed her the bottle. “Just tilt it slightly, put the nipple in her mouth, and she’ll do the rest.”

Addison held her breath as she followed Joanna’s instructions and when Sheridan wrapped her lips around the bottle’s nipple and began to suckle, a smile spread across Addison’s face. “She’s eating.”

“Yes, I had no doubt she would.”

Entranced with the baby in her arms, a few minutes passed before Addison raised her eyes, and when she did, she froze. Unlike Sheridan, who was happily consuming her bottled dinner, Robert was enjoying his straight from his mother’s breast.

Joanna gently ran her finger down Robert’s face as he suckled. Preoccupied with feeding her son, it wasn’t until she noticed that the room had gone curiously silent when she raised her eyes and found Addison staring back at her. “What’s wrong?”

“Oh...um...nothing,” Addison said as her focus kept changing from Joanna’s eyes to her breast. “I just...I just never saw anything so incredibly breathtaking as that.” Raising her eyes, she said, “You’re amazing.”

“I’m just a mum,” Joanna said, looking down at the baby at her breast. “And this comes with the territory.”

“So, how come she gets a bottle and he gets the real thing? Playing favorites already?”

“No, silly,” Joanna said, shaking her head. “They’re both getting the real thing. Like I said, I haven’t really had time to learn how to comfortably feed them together, and since I have help, why struggle?”

“What do you mean they’re both getting the real thing?” The look Joanna gave her was one Addison had seen before, and if her count was correct, it was the sixth time she had seen it that day. “What?”

“I didn’t say anything.”

“You didn’t have to. You have dolt written all over your face.”

“I do not,” Joanna said as merriment danced in her eyes.

“Yes, you do, and I can’t blame you. I’m probably asking really stupid questions, but it’s better than asking none at all. Isn’t it?”

“You’re absolutely right, so to answer your question, I pumped,” she said, pointing across the room.
