Joanna had whispered the words on a breath, and their effect on Addison was instantaneous. Her skin began to tingle, and her core began to throb, and it was all she could do to force herself to take a breath. Corking the decanter, Addison slowly turned around and unconsciously wet her lips.
No longer hidden behind a table that was far too long, Addison was now able to take in every one of Joanna’s curves, especially those accentuated by the skin-tight leggings. The blue of her eyes darkened at the sight of calves stretched by the high heels and thighs...oh, how she remembered those thighs. Addison swallowed the moisture building in her mouth, but it returned in force as she watched Joanna saunter to the desk with a wine bottle in one hand and a goblet in the other.
“I had Sally raid the wine cellar. I hope you don’t mind,” Joanna said, placing the bottle on the desk.
“Not at all,” Addison said, her tone lowering as her anticipation climbed.
Joanna locked eyes with Addison, and peering into the arctic blue, she brought the goblet to her mouth. She took a sip of the wine, savoring the berries and hint of licorice in its finish, and then her tongue appeared. Slowly sliding it across her lips, Joanna removed the remaining moisture in a gesture as evocative as it was sensual.
Addison glanced at the liquor in her tumbler and doubted it held the same amount of intoxication as watching Joanna drink her wine. A sudden surge of heat rushed through Addison’s body and landing at her core, it was all she could do not to groan out loud at the throb.
It was a contest of wills and of wants, and Addison raised her glass to her lips to continue the game. She enjoyed the smoky apricot flavor of the single malt as it effortlessly slid down her throat, and taking a moment, she breathed in the bouquet of one of Scotland’s finest before placing her glass on the table. The game was now over for what Addison wanted was not in a glass. Taking Joanna’s goblet from her hand, she placed it next to the tumbler and in one quick step, she invaded Joanna’s space.
Addison’s eyes betrayed her thoughts, and Joanna felt her body respond. There was no denying their need was the same, and reaching up, Joanna loosened Addison’s tie and tossed it aside.
Moving yet even closer, Addison slipped her hand behind Joanna’s neck. “This means nothing more than what it is,” she said, her voice thick with want.
“I agree,” Joanna murmured as she leaned in close and pressed her lips to Addison’s.
