- About the Author
I returned his playful nudge from earlier. “Anyway, Brothers Brewery should do something for Oktoberfest. It could boost their business.” We’d arrived at the B&B and I walked through the door Finn held open for me. “Although your boss probably wouldn’t like that.” It was in Andrew Hanes’s best interest for the brewery to be on the verge of financial collapse—easier for him to swoop in and buy them out with a lowball offer.
“My boss has bigger things to worry about than a beer festival.”
We walked single file up the stairs with me in the lead. “Then you won’t care if I suggest it to the cousins.” If they scheduled it before I left, I could refer to it in my article.
Finn stopped outside the room next to mine. “I care so little, I’ll forget about it the second I close this door. Although they might want to expand their beer selection.”
I’d be damned if I conceded his point. “Have a nice night.” I plucked my room key from my purse and opened the door.
“Sweet dreams, Adina. I hope your interview is everything you want it to be.”
I turned to him, expecting to see an expression of sarcasm on his ridiculously handsome face to contradict his words, but all I saw was sincerity. A warm gooey feeling spread through me without my permission. I croaked out a thanks, right as he stepped inside his room and closed the door behind him.

I’d planned to call Davina from my room the next morning but changed my mind at the last minute. I had to go downstairs to fill my new to-go coffee mug anyway, and the common room was quiet and completely empty—like my own private office. The decision had nothing do with the possibility of running into Finn. Nothing.
Now, ten minutes into the call, my spirits climbed steadily with each word out of my source’s mouth. I’d told her my story angle was Hallmark characters come to life. Davina loved their movies as much as I did, which made sense since she basically lived one. She was currently telling me how she got into the wedding-planning business.
“I started off working with caterers, which is where I earned my experience, but one of the items on my list of goals before turning thirty was to open my own shop. I accomplished it with a year to spare, and five years later, here we are!”
My cheeks hurt from the strain of smiling so hard while I jotted down notes. It was a careful dance to capture everything while maintaining legible handwriting. But the outlook for my story was blue skies for days. A turning-thirty bucket list was adorably romcom-y. “Tell me about some of the favorite couples you’ve worked with.” I took a sip of coffee and shook out my hand.
“They’re all my favorites!”
