He spun around. “Just some stuff. Work stuff. I need to deal with it tomorrow.”
Something was sus, but I had to back down. He wasn’t a source I needed to press for answers. And he wasn’t my boyfriend.
I nodded. “Okay.” I slowly stepped toward the bed in the late realization there was only one of them and two of us. “I can sleep on the floor.”
Finn jerked his head back. “Why?”
“Because I told you I don’t think it’s a good idea for the two of us to…to…” I made the universal gesture for sex with my thumb and index finger.
Understanding washed over his face. “I think we’re fully capable of sharing a bed without having sex,” he said, grabbing a pillow from the bed and holding it to his chest. “But I’m happy to sleep on the floor if it makes you more comfortable. Although I think the chair might be better.”
My rib cage tightened. “No. It’s your room. You should sleep on the bed. I’ll take the chair.” I pressed the other pillow to my chest.
“Not happening.”
We squared off, both of us holding pillows tightly to our torsos.
“This is ridiculous,” Finn said at last. “There’s enough room for another fully grown adult to fit between us as a human wall. Want me to ask Lorraine?”
“Gross!”
He laughed. “If sharing a bed makes you that uneasy, I’ll absolutely sleep on the floor or chair, but I promise I won’t touch you unless you touch me first.”
I pressed my lips together. “I won’t touch you.”
Tossing his pillow back on the bed, he said, “Then you have nothing to worry about.”

I woke up the little spoon, Finn curled around my back. His arms encircled my center where our hands were clasped together. I didn’t remember when or how we got into this position, but I liked it. Without thinking, I settled in, adjusting my backside against him. I was already aroused.
Finn stirred and pulled me closer to him.
And then I remembered I wasn’t supposed to enjoy this intimacy anymore…and Finn was hard.
I slid out of his grasp, cursing my body for betraying me in the worst possible way. “What happened to no touching?” I demanded.
Finn shuffled under the covers. He mumbled, “Sorry about the morning wood.”
My face flamed.
He chuckled. “I don’t recall you being so bashful, Adi Gellar.” His leg brushed against mine.
I squirmed. “I’m not bashful. This is just…awkward.” And excruciatingly painful. I wanted him. God, did I want him.
“It doesn’t have to be. I like you. I think you like me. We’ve got this big bed.”
I snorted.
“Fine. It’s not as big as I thought it was. But as long as we’re here…”
