  57. About the Author

Kate passed the bar on her second try, which came as no surprise to anyone.

As for Finn and me, in the months after our simultaneous grand gestures, our feelings grew stronger and deeper. Eventually, he asked me to move into his apartment on the Upper West Side, and I happily accepted. Because he lived on location at one of Andrew Hanes’s low-income properties several months out of the year, I enjoyed solo living and my permanent position writing for Tea while also eagerly awaiting his returns. Absence not only made the heart grow fonder but also rendered Adina and Finn hornier, leading to delectably spicy reunions.

Which brought us to right now—the filming of our episode of Modern Love.

Turning back to the director, I said, “Thanks for letting us watch today. It’s so exciting!”

“Our pleasure. I hope we do your essay justice.”

“I’m sure you will!”

“I’d better get back to it.” He joined his camera crew. A series of commands by various members of the crew followed.

We returned our attention to the couple. Her eyes went wide as he pulled a small velvet box out of his hand before kneeling before her. “Adi Gellar, I promise to never take you anywhere without homemade pie if you will agree to be my wife. Marry me?”

She agreed, palm against her heart, tears in her eyes, head bobbing enthusiastically. Then she joined him on the floor, where they sealed it with a kiss.

I squeezed Finn’s hand as the diamond ring on my left ring finger twinkled. It was a perfect retelling of Finn’s proposal, but nothing beat the real thing.

Acknowledgments

If you’ve gotten this far, it means you’ve read my book. Oh. My. God.

I wrote most of As Seen on TV during the pandemic. I had nothing else to do when the world shut down, but I truly adored every moment spent with these characters. It was the best escape from a troublesome reality that I could have hoped for. That said, you wouldn’t be reading this if not for the support of so many others acknowledged below.

Thank you to my agent, Melissa Edwards, for so many things, but mostly for green-lighting this project instead of the other three ideas I pitched with it! You have such great instincts, you’re my steady legs when I’m flailing about (or dancing on the ceiling), and I am so very grateful to you.

Leah Hultenschmidt. You were my dream editor before we ever worked together, and the reality proved even better. I’m still pinching myself that you loved Adi and Finn and wanted to spend more time with them and me. Thank you for providing such fabulous insights and challenging me to dig deeper.

Thank you to my copy editor, Lauren O’Neal, for catching so many inconsistencies.
