“You’re crazy,” Sid said. “No man smells better than this.” She popped a piece of a brownie in her mouth.

“I love how Justin smells, but I might have to agree with Sid on this one,” Chloe chimed in.

“I’m telling you, Tobias smells rugged and delicious,” Madigan insisted. “You should smell him sometime.”

Sid wrinkled her nose. “No thanks. I’ve got enough manly smells with Gunner around, and not that I don’t like the way he smells, but come on, brownies?”

“Your loss.” Madigan poured more chocolate chips into the batter.

“I was going to ask how things were going between you two, but I guess that answers my question,” her mother said.

“I think it’s safe to say your baby girl is smitten with her broody beau.” Ginger winked at Madigan.

They were all looking at her, and after the morning she and Tobias had shared, she was bursting at the seams to talk about him. “I totally am, and it’s terrifying and wonderful, and I am ridiculously happy.”

“Really? Because we couldn’t tell when you were at the Hog the other night. You guys practically acted like strangers,” Sid teased, eating the rest of the brownie.

“Strangers who couldn’t keep their hands off each other,” Chloe said with a smile.

“Do you blame me?” Madigan asked. “I swear when we kiss, the entire world disappears.”

“Forget smitten, you’re a total goner,” Sid said.

“I am. I know we got a bumpy start, but it made us stronger.”

“Reality has a way of doing that,” her mother said.

“I think it’s wonderful.” Ginger added another noodle to the lasagna. “I liked Tobias the first time he sat at my bar. He has a quiet strength about him, and I have to say, I love the way he looks at you, Mads.”

“So do I. I love everything about us, and that’s the reason I decided to delay launching the Mad Truth merchandise line and take Chloe up on working a few more hours at LOCAL.” Madigan began spooning dough onto a cookie sheet.

“You are?” her mother said excitedly. “Oh, darlin’, I’m so glad. I was worried you were taking on too much and leaving no time for fun.”

“Our residents will be thrilled,” Chloe exclaimed.

“I’m happy about it, too. I love working with them, and I know it’s the right decision.” She heard several car doors close and looked out the kitchen window. Blaine’s and Baz’s trucks were parked out front, and Blaine was walking toward Gunner and Baz. Her pulse quickened. “What are the guys doing here? I thought they were going riding.”

“They are. The tables and chairs for the party were still at Tank’s house from the wedding, and they picked them up so Tank could stay home and help Leah with the girls,” Ginger explained.
