- Meet Melissa
“Yup. To match my ride.” The heat of his stare followed her as she moved the Vespa. When she climbed off, he held out his hand. She stared at it. Did he want her to take it? Her mind tiptoed down a curious path, wondering what his hand might feel like.
“The key,” he said gruffly.
Way to go, Mads. She handed it over, and he gave her the helmet.
“Come into the shop and I’ll get your information. You got a name?”
“No. My parents were wolves,” she said, following him in. “They just growled at us and we all came running.”
He chuckled, and it was so genuine, light flashed in his eyes. But it disappeared as quickly as it had come.
“I’m Madigan. Mads. What’s your name?”
“Tobias.” He went around the counter and typed something into the computer. “What’s your last name?”
“Wicked.”
“I bet you are,” he said under his breath as he typed. “Okay, Blue Eyes, I need your home address and phone number.”
He’d noticed her eyes? A thrill skated through her as she gave him the information. “Will you call me tomorrow?”
“I don’t think your brothers would like that.” He headed out of the shop.
She followed him. “I meant with an estimate.”
“Sure you did.”
She liked his sense of humor, and his guardedness made her feel special, as if he didn’t let many people see that side of himself.
“But the answer is no, I won’t be calling you,” he said evenly. “I’m off tomorrow. The other mechanic will call after he takes a look at it.”
She tried to ignore the pang of disappointment that brought. “I hope it’s nothing too bad. What do you think is wrong with it?”
“No way of knowing until we check it out.”
“But what do you think it is?”
He looked at the Vespa. “Could be your carburetor or a vacuum leak, fuel leak, tuning issue, damaged spark plugs.” He met her gaze. “Or maybe it just doesn’t like being pink.”
She tried to give him an incredulous look, but her smile broke through. “I can assure you, it loves being pink.”
“If you say so.”
“What do you have against the color pink?” She emphasized the word pink with a poke to his chest.
He flattened his hand over hers, holding it there. “Careful, Blue Eyes. You don’t want to get yourself in trouble.”
His piercing stare, the roughness of his hand, and the feel of his heart beating against her palm brought memories of last night’s fantasy. She could still feel his rough hands groping and caressing, his chunky silver rings and thick chain bracelet cold against her skin, the thinner leather bracelet warm and soft as he drove her wild with that growly mouth of his.
