But then she looks deep into his eyes and sees nothing but her loyal companion. He’s been by her side for the past ten years. He knows her better than anyone else in the world. Their shared history is irreplaceable. She loves him. She honestly can’t imagine her life without him. He brushes his hair to the side of his face. She notices his hands are a little shaky. She reaches out to steady them. He might have gotten the proposal all wrong, but she can forgive that. ‘Yes. Of course, yes.’
There’s hooting and clapping among the crowd.
He pushes the ring onto her finger and it takes her breath away for a moment. It’s gorgeous. She feels satisfied with herself for dropping all the not-so-subtle hints about the types of rings she likes over the years.
‘Wow, it’s beautiful,’ she tells Drew, admiring her hand.
Drew looks very pleased with himself. He stands up and pulls her in for a kiss. Darcy wishes she could savour the moment, but with all eyes on them, she pulls away before she can enjoy it.
Drew takes Darcy’s newly engaged hand and victoriously charges it into the air. ‘To us!’
There’s more toasting and cheering and commotion. As the crowd closes in on her, she loses Drew’s hand, each and every guest wanting to congratulate her.
She’s engaged!

Bonnie watches the rest of the girls doing the ‘salute to the sun’ pose. Yoga has never been her thing. If she’s completely honest, exercise has never been her thing. She manages a couple of walks a week with Paige, but they’re normally followed by coffee and cake or wine and cheese, so she guesses that cancels out the exercise. Bonnie’s tried yoga a few times but is never able to stop herself from thinking about all the things she’s got to do. She’s tried to keep her mind focused on the poses. One arm there, the other here, posture tall, tummy tight, all while standing on one leg, but her mind always drifts to the accounts she needs to finalise … the ‘sneak peeks’ she needs to post on social media … the emails she needs to respond to … what she has to grab from the supermarket … whether she has time to grab a coffee after this … And suddenly she realises her body isn’t tall, her tummy isn’t tight and instead of feeling relaxed she’s just stressed about all the things she should be doing instead of yoga.
