‘It’s all through my newsfeed.’ She scrolls down to show her more. There’s an image of Ty talking on some kind of talk show. The headline reads, Suitor star still in love with his ex! Ty pleads for ex-fiancée Penny to come forward.

‘You were engaged to Ty?’ Lara’s now standing next to her, peering at the girl’s phone, her face awash with shock. ‘From The One?’

But Penelope can’t answer. She looks back to the girl. ‘What else are they saying?’

‘He wants you to give him another chance. He shouldn’t have gone on the show.’ She shrugs. ‘There are heaps of stories about it on here.’ She indicates towards her phone. A few moments later she clicks a button and footage of Ty talking begins to play. The girl holds it out for Penelope to see.

‘Penny, if you’re out there, I still love you. I want to be with you. I need to know if there’s any future for us.’

Penelope’s body begins to shake, blood draining away from her head.

‘Hey, reckon I could get a photo with you?’ The girl grins. ‘That’d be so cool.’

Penelope feels like she’s going to be sick, no words come out, but she rushes off, terrified the rock she’s been hiding under is about to be overturned.

‘This is awful,’ Darcy murmurs. She’s scrolling through the online articles that have quickly flooded the internet since Ty’s interview with Good Morning only hours earlier. She assumed everyone would be furious with Ty and there are plenty of ‘Ty haters’ commenting on what a low act it was to go on a dating show when he was still in love with someone else, but there are plenty of Ty supporters as well.

Let’s find Ty’s true love. Penny, where are you?

Ty and Penny must reunite!

‘What makes them think that she’s even interested in Ty anymore?’ Mel wonders. ‘She broke off their engagement. Clearly there was a pretty big reason she didn’t want to be with him.’

Darcy hasn’t mentioned she called off her own engagement to Drew. It’s a conversation she isn’t ready to have yet. ‘It’s his heartfelt speech,’ Darcy says, focusing on Ty’s heartache rather than her own. ‘They’re all suckers for seeing a guy broken-hearted.’

‘If a woman had done what he did they’d say she was desperate.’

‘He is desperate,’ Darcy confirms. She’d just seen how desperate on the Good Morning set. He wants to find Penny more than anything else.

‘Do you reckon the network will sue him?’
