- Book Club Discussion Questions
Bonnie’s single date with Ty already feels like a long time ago, despite it only being a matter of days. She’d told the rest of the girls the basics. Helicopter, whale watching, picnic at sunset. No details of the kiss or even the hand-holding despite the girls’ incessant questions.
‘I just think it’d be better if we all try to get along. We could have weeks inside this house together.’ Bonnie had ignored Imogen’s attack, instead gently trying to remind them that they were like cell mates in here.
But by this point she’d already made an enemy out of Imogen. ‘Sounds like you’re pretty confident that you’re going to be sticking around then?’ Imogen snarled. ‘Goes to show how important one-on-one time is.’ Imogen bolstered, clearly feeling validated in interrupting Addison’s time with Ty in the first place.
Bonnie sighed at this. She had crossed the trenches and there was no return from the battlefield. Carla had warned her to keep a low profile and not make any rivals, but with cameras looming, she knew without a doubt that her ‘advice’ to Imogen would resemble something much more interfering.
Bonnie tosses in bed, still unable to sleep, and thinks that perhaps Imogen is right, perhaps Bonnie does already have an advantage, but she can’t quite figure out if that’s a good thing. She could like Ty, she really could, but her mind keeps going back to Oliver and how she’d felt when she’d first seen him again a month or so ago. At the time, she’d been completely unaware that Carla had sent in an application for her to be a contestant on The One. Instead, her biggest decision had come down to what flavour of ice-cream she was going to have. Bonnie’s hand had been resting on the freezer handle, deciding between salted caramel or cookies and cream, when she heard, ‘Bonnie!’
Bonnie turned to see Sophie Nix rushing towards her. Caught red-handed, Bonnie’s hand dropped back down to her side.
Sophie opened her arms wide. ‘I knew it wouldn’t be too long until I ran into you.’
Bonnie wished it’d been longer. ‘I heard you guys were moving back.’ She tried to sound as chirpy as possible.
‘We’ve done the Sydney thing. It’s time to settle down, you know …’ Sophie leaned forward to whisper, ‘to have some babies.’
Bonnie almost choked on her own breath. Hadn’t they been together for like two seconds?
‘I hope it’s not weird,’ Sophie said, her face full of pity. ‘You know—with me and Ollie together.’
