- Book Club Discussion Questions
‘It’ll only be broadcast across national television.’ Ty’s clearly nervous himself.
‘Not nerve-racking at all,’ Bonnie jokes.
Darcy needs to keep things moving. If they think about it too much they’ll chicken out. ‘Are you ready to roll again?’ She’s been pleasantly surprised with how Ty appears on camera, much better than what she’d been expecting when she first met him.
‘Okay,’ Ty says, looking to Bonnie for her opinion. She manages a small nod.
‘Great!’ Darcy says, desperately hoping they’re going to smooth over the conversation so it can be edited into something decent. She nods to Ben behind the camera. ‘Three, two, one …’
‘Action!’
Bonnie tries not to feel suffocated by aching memories of previous relationships. Darcy stares at her, waiting for her to say something. What had she wanted them to do again?
‘It’s all in the past now.’ Ty’s voice pulls her back to him.
Bonnie pushes away thoughts of Darcy and the camera crew, turning her attention back to Ty. ‘And everything happens for a reason.’ She tries to sound light, but in all honesty she doesn’t even know whether she believes that and from the look on Ty’s face he’s not sure either.
‘Well, I guess we wouldn’t be here right now.’ He moves a strand of her hair, tucking it behind her ear. ‘And today has been pretty amazing.’
Bonnie nods. ‘It has.’ Her mouth is dry with anticipation.
‘I’m really excited about getting to know you more.’
Bonnie notices he’s got beads of sweat on his temple that weren’t there a few moments ago. She’s comforted to see he’s nervous too. ‘I feel the same way,’ she tells him. ‘I didn’t expect to be …’ She stops, trying to figure out exactly what she wants to say. ‘So taken by you this early on.’
A smile creases his face. ‘I couldn’t have said it better myself.’ He leans forward, his eyes locked on hers.
She’s jittery as she leans forward to meet him. Their lips touch and she almost takes a sideways glance at Darcy and the rest of the crew who are only metres away, watching, staring, leering. The cameras are so big, and all are pointed directly at them. The spotlight makes Bonnie’s insides swirl, so much that she forgets she’s kissing Ty. She’s going to be on national television kissing a guy! And she hasn’t even paid attention to the actual kiss. He pulls back slowly and her fingertips immediately touch her lips, trying to grab hold of the sensation before it floats away.
