‘Just a dream,’ she murmurs through short sharp breaths, but she notices that the other girls are watching from their own beds. Sharing a bedroom with six girls has never felt so humiliating. But she has a moment of relief that she doesn’t share a room with Imogen.
‘Looks like it was a good dream.’ Hanna’s eyes are suggestive.
Bonnie can’t manage a reply. She turns away to face the wall, her heart still racing as the muddled images of Oliver, Ty and Ben flash through her head.
Hours later, a pool party is in full swing. A dozen girls parade their bikini bodies in front of Ty, jumping and squealing, desperate to make a lasting impression before the looming key ceremony. Two more girls will be sent home tonight. Please let Imogen be one of them!
Bonnie has perched herself on the edge of the pool, her feet dangling in the water, the ultimate fish out of water. Ty had come and sat with her earlier, but within seconds he’d been pulled into the pool by a few of the girls, including Imogen, who is wearing a bikini made from what looks like dental floss. Bonnie can’t compete with all the flirty noise, so instead she retreats, barely speaking at all.
‘You going in?’ Darcy approaches from the sidelines where she’d been standing with the rest of the crew and squats down to Bonnie’s level.
‘Maybe later,’ Bonnie says. She hasn’t spent any time with Ty since the horse-riding group date when she chose not to kiss him. It feels like a mistake now. She should have just made the most of the time she had with him.
But even Darcy doesn’t believe her. ‘Try and get some time with him, okay? You’ve got some great public support.’
This should make her feel better, but she cringes at the idea of the public having any kind of opinion of her. She was all ready to fight for Ty and give their relationship a proper chance, but after her dream, her head feels all muddled again.
Darcy pushes back up and calls for everyone’s attention. ‘All right guys, we’re going to break for fifteen minutes. Grab yourself something to eat and we’ll come back and re-set with some of you applying sunscreen on Ty.’
There’s laughter and squeals of interest at this. Most of the girls flock to Ty rather than the food table as they don’t want to risk missing out. But Bonnie, eager as always for food, follows the crew.
