  42. About the Author

We got down to business after that, and as I’d predicted, everything went smoothly. When it felt like we’d done enough for one day, we hopped in our cars and made our way to Pete’s.

Even though it hadn’t been all that long since I’d parted ways with my girl, I was excited to see Kiera. I had a feeling I would always be excited to see her. She was my world after all. When I walked through the double doors of the bar, I could feel her eyes on me, waiting. It gave me an unparalleled thrill to know she was just as eager to see me.

There was a mile-wide smile on her face as she walked my way, and if she wasn’t the type to be embarrassed about it, I had a feeling she’d skip to me. What had her in such a cheery mood? Me? I hoped so.

“Hey,” I said when she was close enough. “You’re beaming. I know I satisfied you this morning, but I thought that would have worn off by now.”

Rita, behind the bar, was close enough to hear me say that. Under her breath, I heard her murmur, “Sweetheart, it never wears off…”

Thankfully, Kiera hadn’t heard Rita. Her cheeks reddened at hearing me though. Ignoring my comment, she held out her palm. Inside it was two keys—the one I’d given her this morning, and one that I could only assume was hers. “I made copies before work,” she said, her grin infectious.

Staring at the silver metal in her hand made a rush of love and longing surge through me. I’d wanted this for so long. Wanted her for so long. Reaching down, I scooped her up in a hug that left her feet dangling off the floor. Kiera laughed as she wrapped her arms around my neck. “I love you so much, Kiera. I’m so glad we’re doing this.”

She gazed at me with such affection on her face, that it made my chest ache—in the best possible way. “I love you too, Kellan.”

Setting her down, I grabbed the keys from her hand and shoved them both in my pocket, then I grabbed her face and gave her the kiss I’d been dying to give her ever since I’d stepped through the doors. As our mouths moved together, I heard pissing and moaning in the bar. Someone, most likely Griffin, complained that we should get a room. Kiera let out a soft sigh, a sound that nearly undid me, so I ignored them all and continued kissing her. They’d have to pry me away with a crowbar if she kept making that sound.
