It is my belief that the best sex occurs with an individual that one, in fact, loves. On the other hand, this is not to say that one is always well advised to try to perform sex and love simultaneously. Just as there are times when one wants love and not sex, so there are times when one is really more interested in sex than love. This does not mean one is simply, in some physiological sense, interested merely in the body of the woman. A foam-rubber dummy would not do, for example. It does mean that one sometimes wants sexual experiences which need not be explicit expressions of the great regard and tenderness in which the partners hold one another. Performing love and sex simultaneously can be done; it is, however, an achievement; it is a tricky triumph. Sometimes love gets in the way of sex, and sometimes sex gets in the way of love. It is hard to give a woman a smashing good fuck when one is gazing tenderly into her eyes and feeling that she is the most wonderful human being in the world. If you really love her, at such a moment, you might give her a great deal more pleasure, and make her much happier, by treating her less like your beloved spouse, which she is, and the mother of your children, which she is, and more like the terribly exciting, exquisite lay you find her to be. She is a marvelously desirable bitch and animal and she deserves the best you can give her.
