‘They’re lording it up, too,’ Glynn continued. ‘I had Mike do some sniffing around. He saw Alan and his mate in Angels acting like they own the fuckin’ place.’
‘Cheeky bastards!’ Peter cursed.
‘Yeah, they’re really starting to take the piss. We need to put a stop to it, Pete. Our men are getting really fucked off about it.’
‘I know,’ said Peter. ‘You’ve already told me.’
‘So what are we gonna do? We can’t just fuckin’ let this go on!’
Peter took a deep breath, pulling his shoulders back and puffing out his chest. ‘We’re gonna raid them,’ he said. ‘And we’re gonna hit them fuckin’ hard!’
He noticed Glynn’s facial muscles visibly relax and knew that this was what he had been waiting for.
‘We’ll take the two clubs at the same time,’ said Peter. ‘They won’t know what’s fuckin’ hit ’em! And by the time we’ve finished, their bouncers will be doing a runner.’
Glynn’s face broke out into a wide grin. ‘Sounds good,’ he said. ‘So what’s the plan?’
‘I’ll take a few of our men to one of the clubs and you take some to the other club at the same time. We’ll give their bouncers a fuckin’ good going-over.’
‘Sounds good. Only thing is, we can’t afford to leave ourselves exposed here,’ said Glynn. ‘Who’ll look after this place while we’re away?’
‘Well, we’ll have our usual guys on the doors and I can get Adele to take care of any admin in case the staff want petty cash or anything. I’ll tell her we’re both out on business.’
‘Yeah, but I’m talking about security. How about we leave Mike here with a couple of our hardest men to watch over things?’
‘OK, I’m fine with that,’ said Peter.
‘How soon?’ asked Glynn.
‘As soon as possible. I don’t think we can afford to wait much longer, the way things are going.’
‘That’s what I’ve been telling you,’ said Glynn.
‘Yeah, I know. But we got caught up with all that business about the drug dealer, didn’t we?’
Glynn didn’t reply and Peter got the feeling he wasn’t convinced about his reason for the delay in taking action. ‘Right, how about next weekend then?’ he continued. ‘Maybe Saturday.’
‘Great. We just need to sort out some weapons now.’
‘We can’t go carrying guns,’ Peter told him. ‘It’s too fuckin’ risky. I don’t want anyone getting killed. That’s why me and you need to lead this, so we can make sure.’
‘Yeah, but we still need to cause a fair bit of damage. They’ll take no fuckin’ notice otherwise.’
‘I know that, Glynn. I was planning to take knives but I don’t want any serious damage, just enough to make sure they get the fuckin’ message.’
