Minutes later, her guitar was strapped to her back, and she was following his motorcycle toward his place, unable to believe she was going for it after weeks of wanting him. The cool air whisking over her skin did nothing to lessen the desire searing through her as she tried to calm her racing thoughts. Am I really doing this? Following a guy I barely know to have sex with him? She studied his broad back, remembering their moonlight make-out session, and shuddered with anticipation. Oh yeah, she was doing it, all right.

He lived in an apartment, which made sense for a guy who wasn’t looking to put down roots, but her nerves got the better of her as he unlocked the door. “How do you like living here? Do you like your neighbors? I lived in an apartment in Paris briefly, and…”

He pushed the door open and took her helmet from her, setting it, and his, on the floor by the door as she babbled nervously about the places she’d lived. He took her guitar, which she’d forgotten was strapped to her back, and set it by her helmet, then began unlacing his boots. That simple act knocked her brain back into gear. She followed his lead and left her boots and socks by the door. Was that a hookup thing? Most guys she knew trampled through houses with their boots on.

She continued rambling as he led her into a sparsely furnished living room, asking questions and too nervous to wait for answers. There was a futon against the far wall and a small end table. His guitar was propped by the patio door. The living room opened to a kitchen to their right, and she noticed there was no kitchen table. As she surveyed her surroundings, she didn’t see a table anywhere else, either. There was a bathroom down the hall, and just beyond, a bedroom that looked empty from her vantage point.

She looked up at him curiously. “Are you a minimalist?”

“Just temporary housing, that’s all.”

“How long have you been in town?”

“Few months.” He closed the distance between them, eyes boring into her, causing a heat wave to engulf her entire body. “You’ve got a lot of questions for a girl who’s just looking for some fun.”

“I tend to ramble when I’m nervous,” she said softly.

His eyes narrowed. “You want to call this off, Blue Eyes? There’s the door.” He motioned toward it.

“No,” she said quickly, her heart jackhammering in her chest.

He stepped closer with a slightly softer expression and ran his knuckles down her cheek. “Then how about we put that mouth of yours to better use?”

“God yes.” She reached for him as his mouth covered hers, hot and hungry and so deliciously, her body flooded with desire, until there was no room for nervousness.
