Madigan’s father went by the road name Preacher. He was tall, broad shouldered, and in excellent shape from working at their family business, Cape Renovations. Tattoos covered most of his body, including his hands, and he wore his short black-and-silver hair slicked back. His pitch-black brows, ice-blue eyes that were always assessing, studying, ready for anything, and trim beard gave him an authoritative presence, but inside that tough, serious biker was a warm heart that treated friends like family.

“I wanted to reap the benefits of those pregnancy hormones,” her father said with a wink, which her mother ate up.

“I don’t need to know that about you, Dad,” Madigan said.

“Neither do I,” Conroy said, and everyone chuckled. Her uncle was also tall and fit, but that was about as far as his physical similarities to her father went. Conroy had an easy nature and Hollywood good looks, with wavy collar-length silver hair, blue eyes that usually glittered playfully, and a bright smile that brought out deep dimples, which his sons had all inherited.

Zander started playing “Let’s Get It On” by Marvin Gaye, causing a round of chuckles.

“All kidding aside, pregnancy is a beautiful thing,” her father said. “There’s nothing like bringing life into this world.” His thoughtful gaze trailed to Blaine as he and Baz joined them around the bonfire. It lingered on Blaine for a moment before moving to Zeke, Zander, Madigan, and finally coming to rest on Maverick. “I take that back. There is something just as special as bringing life into this world. Being gifted a child who becomes your son.” They’d fostered, and later adopted, Maverick when he was a teenager.

“And our brother,” Blaine said as he sat beside Marly, and Baz took up residence next to Evie.

Maverick nodded, emotions brimming in his eyes. “I’m glad you guys feel that way, because Chloe and I are working on bringing another baby into our family.” Chloe looked lovingly up at him, and he pressed a kiss to her lips.

“Oh, honey, that’s wonderful news,” their mother exclaimed. “But I thought you’d decided to wait. What changed?”

“I was nervous about being a mother,” Chloe said. “But Serena just found out she was pregnant, and something inside me clicked. Suddenly I knew it was the right time, and Justin was ready.” Serena was Chloe’s younger sister.

“I sure am.” Maverick hugged her.

“Yay. More babies!” Madigan cheered, and everyone talked at once, sharing their excitement, which led to the topic of Leah and Tank’s baby and Leah’s baby shower, which was taking place next month.

“Mama! Look what we found!” Junie was sprinting toward Leah. Red ringlets bounced around her adorable fair-skinned face, in stark contrast to her younger sister, Rosie, who was trying her hardest to catch up. Rosie’s thick brown curls were a shade darker than her skin and currently pinned up in pigtails.
