Reba and Ginger introduced everyone, and then Ginger said, “We were just about to open presents.”

“You go ahead. I’m good here,” Zander said, cutting himself a slice of cake. He eyed Starr. “Want to lick my frosting?”

“You’re such a child.” Starr shook her head.

Zander smirked. “Give me ten minutes, and you’ll not only take that back, but you’ll be begging for more.”

“Zander,” Reba chided.

“Ten minutes?” Starr scoffed. “That’s hardly worth getting undressed. Any woman would beg for more.”

Everyone cracked up, and they gathered around to watch Tank and Leah open presents. Junie and Rosie helped tear the wrapping paper off each gift, and everyone oohed and ahhed as tiny onesies and baby toys were unveiled.

“I feel bad,” Tobias whispered to Madigan. “I didn’t get them a gift.”

“Yes, you did. They’re opening it now.”

Leah opened the box in her lap and pulled out a stuffed bunny, several adorable onesies, the book Madigan had read and recorded, and a handful of colorful baby toys. She and Tank looked at them with love in their eyes, and as Tank gave an appreciative nod, Leah said, “Thank you, Mads and Tobias. I love all of it.”

Rosie followed her parents’ gazes to Tobias, seeing him for the first time. Her eyes brightened. “Is that big boy over there Toe?”

Christ. His heart was really getting hammered tonight.

“Yes, honey. That’s Aunt Madigan’s boyfriend, Tobias.”

“He’s mine, too!” Rosie exclaimed. “Wight, Toe? Wight?”

Madigan grinned up at him, and everyone else was watching him, too.

“Sure thing,” he said, and wondered if Madigan and her family could tell that his mind was tiptoeing back to the niece he’d never met and the sister he missed.

“Yay!” Rosie yelled. “You can buy me candy, and presents, and—”

Tank scooped her up, holding her over his head with a serious scowl, but she just grinned down at him. “Cheeky, what’d I tell you about asking for presents?”

“Not to do it.” Rosie never stopped smiling. “I forgot. I won’t do it again.”

“Yes, she will!” Junie called out, causing more laughter.

Rosie giggled, and Tank kissed her cheek and lowered her to the ground, giving her bottom a playful swat. She ran over to Tobias and wrapped her arms around his leg, beaming up at him with sweet big brown eyes. “I’m sorry I asked for presents. Will you still be mine?”

Damn, she was adorable. He hoisted her into his arms. “Sure, as long as you listen to your Papa Tank.”

She threw her arms around his neck and kissed his cheek, immediately scrunching up her nose. “You’re prickly like Papa Tank.”

“No one’s as prickly as Papa Tank,” Baz said.
