- Meet Melissa
He shrugged. “You want a ride, or what?”
“Well, I don’t really know you, so I’d still be getting in a car with a semi-stranger.”
“You know my name and that I work here, which is more than you know about some random guy who pulls up in a car and tells you to get in. And I don’t drive a car, so you won’t be getting into something you can’t get out of. You can decide while I lock up the place.”
He strode away, and a few minutes later he walked past her carrying a motorcycle helmet and didn’t slow down as he said, “What’s it gonna be, Blue Eyes?”
She caught up to him. “My brothers aren’t going to find my lifeless body someplace tomorrow, are they?”
He didn’t respond, his expression serious.
“I’m kidding.”
“Death is no joke. Where are we headed?”
“LOCAL.”
His brows knitted.
“The Lower Cape Assisted Living Facility.”
“I know the place. Off Route Six, by the church. Put on that Barbie helmet, and let’s go.” He put on his helmet and straddled the bike, looking like sex on wheels.
As if sex on legs wasn’t enough.
She really was losing her mind. She pulled on her helmet and climbed on behind him, wrapping her arms around his broad body. Heat seeped through their clothing, making her nipples tingle with desire. He slid his hands around her legs just above her knees, tugging her closer, and then he grabbed her hands, pulling until she was pressed so tightly against him, not even air could fit between them, and placed her hands just below his chest. “Hold tight, Blue Eyes.”
As if she’d move from the most enticing place she’d ever been?
TOBIAS WAS ALREADY going straight to hell for things he’d done in his life, and his thoughts about the blue-eyed firecracker pressing her sweet, soft body against him would only ensure that door was locked behind him. But he’d thought about her, and that pain-filled story she’d told, for two and a half days. He liked her feisty banter and the way she said whatever was on her mind, and she felt fucking fantastic plastered against him. He clung to the desire stacking up inside him, willing himself to fight off his demons for just a little longer, but memories invaded like cancer, sneaking in through fissures and taking root.
