It’s common for the camera guys to be told to keep filming but Bonnie feels her jaw dropping at Ty’s comment. What does he mean?

‘Just like we rehearsed,’ Darcy tells Ty. She wants him to keep it moving.

Ty stares at Darcy with a hardness Bonnie hasn’t seen before. Finally he drops his gaze before looking back to the girls. ‘We’re getting close to the end now and I really didn’t realise how difficult it was going to be.’ He rubs his face, looking tortured by the position he’s in. ‘I really didn’t want to hurt anyone but now I realise that I was naive and stupid.’

‘Rephrase please, Ty,’ Darcy calls, feeding him the line back. ‘I really didn’t want to hurt anyone, but I now realise that it was inevitable.’

He looks at Darcy again and is about to say something, but then turns back to the girls and repeats the line before reaching for a key.

Bonnie’s chest tightens. Something doesn’t feel right, but maybe it’s just because they really are getting towards the end.

He waits, like he’s been told to do, drawing out the drama of the moment before finally saying … ‘Addison.’

Bonnie feels Addison’s breath exhale with relief beside her as she rushes forward to Ty.

‘Will you accept this key?’

Addison accepts, of course.

So does Jodie.

And then Hayley.

There’s one key left. Bonnie and Cassie take a step closer to each other, closing in the space where Hayley had just been standing. They offer each other a heartfelt smile, knowing that one of them is about to be sent home. One of them has lost in this competition of love.

Bonnie watches as Ty picks up the last key. She prepares herself for the rejection, reminding herself to not let her face fall when he calls Cassie’s name.

Ty can’t look at either of them. Instead his eyes remain focused on the key in his hand. It feels like it’s taking longer than it normally does. Nerves have imprisoned Bonnie’s body; her own breath kept captive in her throat.

And then her name passes through his lips. ‘Bonnie.’

She stands still as she tries to make sense of what this means. She feels Cassie slouch beside her and knows this should help with her own reaction, but still she remains frozen.

Ty is staring at her, his face warm.

Cassie squeezes her hand, offering Bonnie a smile despite her eyes being clouded with disappointment.

Guilt clamps at Bonnie’s heart as she realises Cassie is being sent home. Cassie, the single mum, hasn’t won Ty’s heart. Cassie, who has sacrificed two months of her life to be away from her son. Bonnie embraces her friend, aware she can’t really offer any real comfort. But Cassie steps back so Bonnie can have her moment.
