Her feelings for Ty yo-yo up and down. The sensation makes her feel constantly queasy. She wants to believe that she has a future with Ty, but can she really let herself believe that when there are still four other girls left in the competition? Can she expect him to choose her when he wants a brood of kids and she doesn’t? He seems like a nice guy, but does she really even know him? All the words inside her head are on the tip of her tongue and she feels like she could let it all pour out. She craves that kind of release instead of the tightness across her chest but instead she says, ‘Yeah, of course. I was just thinking of all the takeaways I’ll be getting when I leave this place.’
Darcy moves away from Ty and Jodie’s one-on-one time. It’s already been decided that he’ll give her a key. The audience loves her. They seem like a ready-made match. She also lives in Sydney, a suburb away from his place on the Northern Beaches. He designs furniture, she designs interiors. They both want lots and lots of kids.
But Jodie isn’t the only girl left in this race, and Darcy knows Ty’s heart is still yet to be won. Well, won away from his ex, anyway.
Darcy needs to find Bonnie and give her a pep talk about approaching Ty. Bonnie is also a fan favourite, a bit of an awkward and vulnerable underdog. Things between them have been a little stilted since the illegal phone incident, but Darcy is committed to doing her job properly and isn’t going to avoid Bonnie just because it makes them both uncomfortable. She’ll suggest Bonnie interrupt Ty’s time with Jodie and she doubts Bonnie will refuse her after everything that’s happened.
As she rounds the corner she sees Bonnie talking to Ben, who has his camera resting off his arm. Once again Darcy has a longing to film Bonnie in a natural conversation like the one she’s having now. Her whole body seems relaxed, her facial expressions raw. So often footage of Bonnie with Ty has her looking blatantly nervous and unsure.
Bonnie and Ben both turn as they notice her approaching. Ben looks mildly guilty for talking on the job, but it’s a common occurrence. With only five girls left and three camera guys working, there’s not all that much for them to film.
‘Was it your idea to have us dress up?’ Bonnie eyes Darcy, clearly feeling self-conscious and totally unaware that she actually looks stunning.
