“You can take my spot,” Nic said easily. “I’m going up to shower.” She winked subtly at Abby, then leaned over to kiss her before heading up the stairs. She glanced over her shoulder once, seeing Holly standing close to Abby—far too close. Aaron seemed oblivious to it as he poked at the fire.

Before she turned away, she saw Abby say something, saw Holly laugh and lean closer to touch her arm. She was shocked by the twinge of jealousy that hit her. She wasn’t certain she’d ever felt that before. She shook it away, reminding herself she was only the fake girlfriend. Fake girlfriends didn’t get jealous.

Chapter Twenty-eight

“We’ll take the back seat,” Abby offered when her father backed his Suburban out of the garage.

“Are you sure? Aaron and I won’t mind sitting in the third-row seats,” Holly said.

“No. We got it. It’ll be fine.” Abby took Nic’s hand and tugged her along. “That was an endless dinner and I just want some alone time,” she whispered to her.

Nic wasn’t sure how much alone time they would be afforded, but when Abby crawled in the back, she followed. Abby leaned closer and smiled at her. A little bit of a flirty smile that had her wondering what she had planned. She didn’t have to wonder long. As soon as all the doors were closed and the lights were out, the hand that was resting on her leg slipped between her thighs, squeezing the inside intimately.

She turned her head, finding Abby’s eyes in the shadows. As Abby’s hand squeezed again, Nic felt her breath catch. She heard Sandra mention something about which route they were going to take, but whatever conversation followed was lost to her. She spread her thighs, giving Abby access. She heard the change in Abby’s breathing, saw the rise and fall of her chest. Without thinking, she leaned closer, taking Abby’s mouth in a fiery kiss, her tongue meeting Abby’s for a second before pulling away.

Abby’s fingers pressed into the seam of her jeans, and she only barely stifled the moan that tried to escape. Good lord, but she was turned on. Common sense told her to remove that hand before things went any further, but she was powerless to do so.

They were on Main Street now and she tried to look at all the colorful lights, tried to force her voice to comment like the others were doing. Even Abby, with her hand still firmly between her thighs, made note of the giant Santa that was in front of the bank. She remained mute, however, as Abby’s fingers rubbed back and forth, making her squirm in the seat. She was breathing hard now, and she was certain that Holly or Aaron would hear her. Her hips jerked when Abby pressed against her clit.
