“Yes. I didn’t think you were the type to force yourself on me and I didn’t imagine you’d tell my family about our little charade to get back at me. I figured you would be stuck up here and there would be nothing you could do about it.”

“That was your plan, huh? Sorry that didn’t work out.”

Abby touched her breasts, her finger moving from one nipple to the other. Instead of answering, she lowered her head, gently kissing the nipple that she’d just been touching. At Nic’s sharp intake of breath, she closed her mouth around it. Oh, but they didn’t have time for this. Not again. They’d come upstairs to shower before dinner. Her parents were taking them out to eat this evening, an hour earlier than usual. The snowstorm—with near blizzard conditions—was expected to hit by nine and her father wanted to be home and off the roads before then.

With a groan, she rolled away from Nic. “Shower. We’re supposed to be showering.”

But Nic rolled toward her and gathered her close, kissing her hungrily. Abby returned the kiss, letting her tongue dance with Nic’s. God, she felt like a horny teenager. She moved her fingers between Nic’s thighs. Maybe they had time, she reasoned. Because when she felt Nic’s wetness, she had no intention of stopping. She circled her clit with her finger, feeling Nic writhe against her. Their kisses were frantic now—frenzied—as if they couldn’t get enough. And no, she couldn’t get enough. She wanted Nic to swallow her up, she wanted to drown inside her, she wanted to devour her.

A loud knock on their door made her jerk her head up, staring at it in disbelief. Surely to god they locked the damn thing.

“Hey…Mom said we’re leaving in ten minutes.”

“Jesus…ten minutes?” she whispered. She pulled away from Nic. “Yeah. Okay,” she called. “Be right down.”

“No, no, no, no,” Nic murmured. “I’m dying here.”

Abby smiled at her. “Come on. I’ll take care of that for you. In the shower.”

Chapter Thirty-five

The fancy steak place had had a waiting line and, much to Holly’s chagrin, they opted for the barbeque joint instead. Either one would have suited Nic—she’d been starving. It was a fun place and it had been hopping. A corner was reserved for dancing, and it was crowded as people took advantage of the live band playing country music.

The brisket was tender, the ribs had been falling off the bone, and the sauce had just enough of a bite to take the edge off the sweetness. It wasn’t Scooter’s Pit Barbeque, but it was damn good. Holly seemed to be the only one not impressed with the food or ambiance, but Nic simply ignored her complaints as she practically wolfed down the ribs on her plate.
