I’m assuming I’m the hell he refers to, but who knows. Makes me sick. And angry. Wouldn’t you be, too? I mean, I could understand a little fling. We all grieve in our own way. But buying a house with her? That was the straw that broke this camel’s back. I had to strike tonight, their first night as official owners of their dream home. I mean, it’s so poetic.

Tonight, David will leave their love nest reluctantly. Climbing out of bed, he’ll stop and smile at Kylie, promising tomorrow night, after Betsy’s graduation, he’ll finally be able to spend the entire night with her, wake up with her in the morning and every morning after. They’ll finally be together and not in her cheap Balboa apartment. He’ll take a moment to wash up in the master bath—offering “dual sinks, a vanity area, large soaking tub, oversize shower and generous closet.”

Kylie will jump out of bed, pull on her bathrobe and hurry him out the door. She’s had the note on her mind, of course. With shaking hands she’ll pull the letter out from under the stack of catalogs and junk mail. She’ll open it and read the truth: she’s been found.

She’ll skim the note another time, noticing for the first time the cc: Howie Holiday. Herbert’s son is her worst enemy and her biggest threat. She’ll understand a copy of this letter has been sent to her ex’s son, the one out to get her. Hello, Herbert Holiday Jr. I’ll call you Howie. Meet Nancy Finch Holiday, aka Kylie Dorn want-to-be Harris, now residing in a fabulous Port Street home yada yada yada. I was sure to enclose a recent photo of Kylie/Nancy. Just to bring it home for him.

Of course I attached the address of the love nest in my letter to him, in case he’d like to snoop around online. And he will.

She will know she has to go, and fast, the little home wrecker. She’ll drive the white Audi into the garage, closing the door behind her. She’ll work for a couple of hours, filling the car with everything of value she’s received from David, and from Herbert before him. And then she’ll climb into the front seat, with tears in her eyes, and drive away.
