To my dog park cohorts, Min Chen, Lori Janowski, Melissa Raymond, Bill McDonald, The Genriches, and The Powells, thank you for all the support and encouragement. From the minute I started writing my debut novel years ago, you have been nothing but amazing. You all have become my New York family. I appreciate you celebrating every step of my writing journey with me and I cannot imagine going through this without such an incredible support group.

To the photography department at my day job, thank you for always being supportive and celebrating each win with me. Our group is so unique and is really more like a family. I’m grateful to be surrounded by creative people who inspire me every day.

And finally, to my family. Mom and Dad, not only do I thank you for giving me a wonderful childhood, but also for your full support along this journey. Never once did you doubt I could do it. You’ve pushed me and celebrated my successes as though they were your own. I feel lucky to have you as parents. To my niece Julia, thank you for listening to my ideas, watching countless horror movies with me and picking up the slack with our animals when my eyes were glued to my computer screen. To my nephew Johnny, thank you for sharing my awards and reviews constantly on your own social media pages and for your words of excitement and support. I am so grateful to be surrounded by a loving and encouraging family.

About the Author

Steph Mullin is a creative director and Nicole Mabry works in the photography department for a television network. They met as co-workers in New York City in 2012, discovering a shared passion for writing and true crime. After Steph relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2018, they continued to collaborate creatively. Separated by five states, they spend countless hours scheming via FaceTime and editing each other’s typos in real time on Google Docs.

Nicole lives in Queens, New York, and is also the author of Past This Point, an award-winning apocalyptic women’s fiction novel. The Family Tree is the duo’s first crime novel.
