‘They’re about as you can imagine,’ Beccah said sadly. ‘Still very traumatized by this experience, especially now that it’s suspected he’s still out there. They left the Tri-State area a few years back but still sleep with their lights on, can’t stand to be home alone. I desperately hope, as you do I’m sure, that we find answers for them soon. I think they’ll sleep a lot better at night once they know he’s behind bars.’

My heart broke at this and my desire to find the truth strengthened even more. I couldn’t bear the thought of any more lives being stolen.

‘I think we’ll all sleep better when that happens,’ I replied. ‘Well, I can’t thank you enough for sharing all this with me,’ I said, taking another sip of my wine. ‘I know you can’t share everything so I won’t take up more of your time right now. But it means a lot to just have someone who doesn’t shy away from talking to me about this. It’s been very lonely, this journey.’

‘I can imagine,’ she said softly. ‘I’m happy to lend an ear. As you know, TSK has taken up a large part of my professional career. If you see anything else of interest, I’d love to hear about it. You never know what could be a vital piece of evidence. But hopefully with the new lead from your DNA, he’ll be caught soon.’

‘Let’s hope so.’

CHAPTER 24

‘A woman’s highest calling is to be obedient and respect the rules and traditions set forth by her man, her master. His success and desires will dictate her own. The man is the true head of the household and it is the woman’s job to serve and follow direction without question. The woman must always greet her master with a warm but not overtly attention-seeking smile. She must not only satisfy her master, but also show her appreciation for his leadership. A proper woman is clean, groomed, and standing tall in eager anticipation when the man returns home. It is a woman’s duty to ensure a clean house for the man out of respect for him and his domain.
