And last but not least, thank you to my family. To my mom and dad, Ann and Dave Durso, for the unwavering love and support you’ve given me since day one. You have always encouraged me to go after my dreams and pursue my passions, and for that I can never fully repay you. Where I am today would not have been possible without your selflessness and the opportunities you’ve given me. To Katie and William Bagdorf, and Chris and Kim Durso, thank you for being such supportive and loving siblings. I know I can always count on you to cheer me on in the good times and cheer me up when things get hard. And thank you to the Mullins, my second family, who welcomed me with open arms when I married Danny and have continued to help celebrate me and my successes. I am so appreciative of your love and enthusiasm.

From Nicole:

To my amazing co-author, Steph. From the moment I called you that one fateful night in 2019 and said, ‘Something about 23andMe. Go!’ you were completely on board. Even though we both had solo projects we were working on, thank you for seeing the potential in this idea, putting your own project aside and becoming just as engrossed as I was. We put our collective foot on the gas and did not let up until we had a finished manuscript two months later. I can’t thank you enough for running with the idea and working tirelessly alongside me. This book would not exist if it weren’t for you hopping on a call every hour and talking through plot points and character profiles. Thank you for listening to all my crazy ideas, jumping on the ones that actually worked, and delicately letting me know which ones didn’t. Thank you for working from morning till night, side by side on our couches and later on Zoom calls. When we met at Travelzoo in 2012 as co-workers, I never would have imagined that our shared passion for true crime would lead to us collaborating on crime novels, but I am so happy that it did. I am grateful every day that we found our way to becoming co-authors. I couldn’t ask for a better partner in this journey. I look forward to a long career with you by my side.

I want to thank my amazing and selfless beta readers, Deborah Kriger, Sarah Sanchez and Karen Chesley. Your insight has helped in so many ways. I appreciate you taking the time to give detailed notes, chapter by chapter, and letting us bounce ideas off you. The courses our characters took were heavily influenced by your feedback and I am so grateful to have such willing and shrewd readers.
