“Yeah?” she asked over her shoulder.

“Um, you can call me Jill. If you want.”

“Is that what you want?”

Jill shoved her hands in her front pockets, making her look like a combination of sexy and vulnerable. She took a moment to answer, which Reagan found odd seeing as she didn’t think it was a difficult question. Finally, Jillian took a deep breath and answered, “Yes.”

Reagan smiled. “Then I’ll do that. Have a good night, Jill.” She walked back to her table, glancing back once to see Jill was watching her, regret obvious in her eyes.

Jill turned back to the bar, downed the last few sips of her vodka soda, and gestured to the bartender for another round. As he stepped away to make it, Jill found the short-haired woman grabbing Sam’s ass and pulling her in between her legs. So much for hanging out, she thought. She should’ve just gone home after her first drink like she had told Reagan she had planned to do. But something told her she should stay, at least for a little longer.

When the bartender placed Jill’s drink in front of her, she felt a hand wrap around her forearm. For a tiny moment, she hoped Reagan had returned. Instead, she found a young woman in her mid-twenties. Cute and shorter than Jill with tight black curls, she smiled as if she’d found exactly what she’d been looking for that night.

“I’m Mira. How about you buy me a drink?”

Jill hesitated. She could easily say no and Mira would be on her way. But in the back of her mind, Sam’s voice nagged at her. Hooking up with random strangers used to be a semi-regular occurrence for her because it was always so much easier than full-blown relationships. Admittedly, it had been a while since she’d hooked up with anyone. For some reason, even a no-strings hook up had started leaving her unsatisfied, though maybe it was what she needed tonight. Maybe it was why she’d been feeling unsettled lately so she decided to give Mira a little time. If she couldn’t stand her, then she’d head home. “What would you like?”

“Jack and diet.”

Jill grabbed the attention of the female bartender and ordered Mira’s drink. “So, come here often?”

Mira choked on her drink. A smirk forming as she replied, “That’s overdone, don’t you think?”

Jill shrugged. “I get the feeling you don’t really care what I have to say. Unless it’s in the bedroom.”

Mira’s eyes darkened and she knocked back the rest of her drink. She closed the space between them, brushing her hips against Jill’s as she stood on her tiptoes to whisper in her ear. “You’re absolutely right.”
