- About the Author
Sometimes Megan worried about him, though. He was, after all, ultimately looking for true love, a person to spend his life with, a man he could trust and invest in the future with. She wasn’t sure he’d find it with the one-night stands he seemed to favour. Since she’d known him, he’d only ever had a handful of men who he’d referred to as boyfriend material and none of them had ever stuck around for long.
Perhaps he needed a change of scene? A new place to meet people who were interested in more than just instant gratification.
She put the plug in the bath then turned on the taps, pouring in a huge glug of Jo Malone bath foam, for good measure.
Life for Brendon had been hard. He’d never fitted in at school because he was nerdy and sports were not his thing. Once, in a quiet moment, he’d told her he was bullied too and his parents had eventually moved him to a different school. It had solved the problem but meant he’d had long bus journeys to cope with at the start and end of each day.
Megan stripped off her clothes and set them on the wash bin. She glanced at her nails—the pale pink polish wouldn’t work with the red and black colour scheme of the evening so she set about removing it.
Perhaps she should have a talk with Brendon. See if this Seth guy could be more. Maybe she’d suggest they all go out for dinner, as a foursome, or a sixsome if Georgie and Tom were up for it too. Yes, that would be good. It might give him the nudge into relationship-land.
Relationship.
Was she ready for another one?
It was all so soon after Dylan. She hadn’t imagined that she’d go on a date for months, yet here she was, already going out for dinner with someone.
But it didn’t feel like she’d only just met James. She’d been admiring him for ages. And it seemed he had her too.
She dropped the cotton wool in the bin and turned off the tap.
He’d said he’d fantasised about her. Thought about kissing her, touching her… What else had he imagined?
She dipped her toe into the water to test the temperature. Satisfied, she climbed in and let the warmth surround her. She rested back and let out a long sigh as the bubbles wafted around her chin.
If she was honest, she’d thought about him too. She’d tried not to, it had felt unfaithful to Dylan, but a girl could look, or so she’d told herself. And not looking at James when she’d seen him at Frank’s Bar—whether it was seeing him slipping in from the safety of her office or actually studying him as she sipped her wine—had been impossible.
